I love the button idea and the water play sounds like a blast! I’m always afraid to pull out any water ideas because as soon as I turn my back, someone will be playing either in the toilet or running all the facets at once.
The chew on everything stage - we are right there still too. If we do anything that shouldn’t be eatten, Lauryn sits in a chair next to me… I think she feels like she’s working with me then. But, you could always try a similar idea with edible items like color goldfish and fruitloops… different shaped crackers, etc.

When I was a child, it was my mother’s button tin that filled this role. Hundreds of buttons! Sorting them by color and shape and design kept me occupied for hours.

Unfortunately I rely on educational DVD’s to keep Billy entertained while I’m working. I truly think he’s learning from them, he already knows the alphabet and his numbers 1-10, but I worry he’s not getting enough real world stimulus. However, he’s still at the put-everything-in-his-mouth-and-chew-it-to-death stage, so I’m afraid to try other things. But he does play with blocks and stuff.
